Head Start is a Federal and State funded Program offering:

  • 4 ½ hour day from 9:00 to 1:30
  • 6 hour day from 9:00 to 3:00
  • Extended hours available for working families
  • Qualified teaching staff
  • Staff certified in Infant and Child First Aid
  • Individualized learning activities
  • Educational screenings
  • Health screenings and follow up
  • Parent workshops and support services
  • Breakfast, lunch and snack (6 hr day) provided
  • Registered nurse on duty
  • Enroll children with disabilities
  • A smooth transition form pre-kindergarten to kindergarten
  • Use a curriculum that will help your child grow academically and socially
  • Small class sizes

Head Start serves 437 children in all of Schuylkill County through center based and home based options. Head Start is currently the only comprehensive, family-focused agency. By enrolling your child into Head Start you are preparing your child both academically and socially for a smooth transition into kindergarten.
